POPROCKZ LIVE (previously known as POPROCKZ JAM) is LA’s most electrifying monthly music experience, where singers, instrumentalists, and music lovers unite to create unforgettable nights of curated chaos and collaboration.
Produced by Jamie Hodes and Athan Hilaki, POPROCKZ LIVE was born from a shared vision: to build a creative playground for passionate musicians and fans—one that breaks the boundaries of the typical showcase night and instead feels like an epic, ever-evolving concert, every single time.
Each event is meticulously curated, blending high-energy performances, and surprise moments that can only happen when LA’s top talent collides with up-and-comers, weekend warriors, and special guests. Whether you’re a seasoned performer or stepping on stage for the first time, you’ll find your tribe here—and maybe even your next bandmate or best friend.
Hosted at Los Angeles venues like Hotel Ziggy and Lucky Strike Hollywood, POPROCKZ LIVE happens twice a month: the first Monday at Hotel Ziggy and a rotating Friday at Lucky Strike. Every show is a new adventure, featuring a carefully crafted lineup, rotating house bands, and spontaneous collabs that keep even the regulars guessing what’s next.
POPROCKZ LIVE is about community over competition. We believe in supporting artists, building genuine connections, and keeping live music at the heart of LA’s culture. Every show is designed to be inclusive, welcoming, and full of surprises—because that’s when the real magic happens.
Curation: Every performer is thoughtfully scheduled to ensure the night flows and the energy stays sky-high.

No. POPROCKZ LIVE is completely free. There are no fees to join, submit songs, or perform. Our goal is to build a strong community of musicians and create great shows together. In the near future, we’ll also be adding optional premium features and merchandise, and we’re excited to share those with you soon.
Yes. This is a recent update that helps us understand who you are through your profile and submission details. A minimum of one video is required (added during your new member submission form, more can be added through your profile). Being a (free) member also auto-fills parts of the form, making submissions faster and easier.
No. We receive a high number of submissions for every show. If your song is selected, you will receive a welcome email. If not, keep submitting—selections vary depending on each show. Singers are prioritized over multi-instrumentalists when building the lineup.
Primarily, song requests are submitted by singers for upcoming POPROCKZ LIVE shows. We also have a song recommendation form where members can suggest songs they would like to hear or perform in the future. These recommendations are not the same as official singer submissions, but they help us collect ideas and build future setlists.
Our system also supports “Band Mode,” which may be available for some shows. In this format, songs are posted without assigned singers or musicians, and members submit for the specific slots they want to perform.
Songs are selected based on singer submissions, musician availability, and overall lineup balance to create the strongest possible show.
Yes. In some cases, a song may be assigned to more than one singer. This can result in a duet or a shared performance where the song is split in a fair and balanced way.
Singers should submit at least three songs, but submitting more gives the producers more flexibility when building the lineup.
Instrumentalists typically perform two to three songs per event, depending on availability and lineup balance.
No. Once instrumentalists submit their song selections, they do not appear on the lineup automatically. All submissions are reviewed and approved manually by the producers to ensure the best overall lineup.
In our first round, instrumentalists are typically assigned to 2–3 songs max so more musicians can participate. We will send out additional requests for musicians if needed, and your submissions remain on file. If spots are still open, you may be assigned to more songs—no need to submit again for the same songs.
If you are selected, you will be added to a group chat for that specific song in our online chat system. Singers will also receive a welcome email.
Inside the group chat, all assigned singers and musicians can connect, share details, and coordinate the performance. Once the group chat is created, you may receive notifications on our site and by email when there are updates to the conversation.
Although we accept time-slot recommendations, time slots are assigned by the producers based on the overall flow of the show. If you request a specific time slot and it does not fit the show, your song may not be selected. Please don’t hesitate to submit again for a future show. New singers are always placed in opening or closing slots.
If a song lineup is not sufficiently filled 48 hours before the event, the song may be removed from the show.
Songs should generally stay around five minutes or less. If a song is expected to run longer, it must receive producer approval before the show.
Musicians should arrive early, at least 30 min before their time-slot, and plan to be in the green room at least 10 minutes before their song so the show can move smoothly between performances.
Yes. When you arrive, scan the QR code printed at the venue using your phone to check in automatically, or find one of the producers to be checked in manually. If you are new to the show, please check in and introduce yourself so we know who you are when it’s time for you to go on stage.
If something changes and you cannot perform, notify the producers as early as possible so adjustments can be made to the lineup. If the event is within the next 48 hours, please notify your bandmates and try to find a replacement if possible by reaching out in the public chat, messaging people directly, or checking in with the producers. Any replacements need to be approved by the producers!
Yes. When you visit poprockzlive.com, you will see a popup with steps to install our app – click here if you missed the popup. This helps you communicate with other musicians and get notified instantly when new shows are added. Make sure to enable notifications when prompted. The app does not take much space on your phone or tablet, as it is a web app.
If you missed the notification popup:
iPhone (Safari):
Open the website → tap the share icon → Add to Home Screen → open the app from your home screen → follow the prompt to enable notifications (or check Safari settings under Notifications).
Android (Chrome):
Open the website → tap the 3-dot menu → Add to Home Screen → reopen the app → go to browser Settings → Notifications → Site Settings and allow notifications for the site.
Notifications are controlled from your browser (Safari / Chrome), not from the app itself.
When you install our app and enable notifications, you will be notified instantly about new shows, open slots, and status updates (from singer submissions to instrumentalist submissions). We also send email notifications, usually within a day or two after new events are posted.
Please make sure you review the Musician Agreement & Performance Guidelines before the show. This FAQ covers the basics, but the agreement includes important details about expectations, communication, and performance requirements.
Only singers can submit song requests, but the final lineup is selected with the musicians in mind as well. Please include multiple song options when submitting and only submit songs you are comfortable performing. This gives us the flexibility to build the best lineup for everyone involved.
A song may be assigned to more than one singer, and performances may be split or structured as a duet when needed. This does NOT mean there won’t be any solo singing performances, or that this will happen in every show.
New performers (singers) must first perform at Hotel Ziggy before being eligible to perform at Lucky Strike shows.
For both shows, all newcomers (singers) are assigned either the opening or closing slots. Please make sure you are comfortable with this before submitting or accepting a performance slot.
With many musicians involved, communication can sometimes be challenging. That’s why we implemented the online messaging system to help keep everyone informed, while maintaining privacy.
When you commit to a performance slot, you have a responsibility to your fellow musicians to show up as planned. If you decide not to participate without reasonable notice, you may not be eligible to perform at future shows.
Please communicate clearly and respect the commitment you make to the group.
Please check in as soon as you arrive by scanning the show’s QR code. This helps us keep track of who is in the building and ready to perform.
We also encourage everyone to arrive early and support the other musicians. Being present and engaged helps create a better experience for everyone.
If you are new, having trouble with the QR code, or do not see it, please find one of the show producers or one of your bandmates so we can check you in manually.
You should also be in the green room at least 10 minutes before your song. The show may run slightly ahead or behind schedule, so please pay attention to the songs that are close to yours and be ready when it’s your turn.
Please avoid noodling or making unnecessary noise on your instruments while on stage. This forces sound engineers to mute lines during transitions and creates delays and extra work for them. It is also distracting to both the audience and fellow musicians.
Only do a quick line check and play when it is your time to perform or when the band is actively starting the song.
For guitarists, we use the same pedal configuration at all our shows. If you need to quickly check something, please lower your volume to a minimum.
Coming on stage and gathering in the middle to figure out what song you’re playing or who is starting the song is not acceptable. These decisions must be made before stepping on stage.
Use the group chat created for your band to coordinate ahead of time. Please come prepared and ready to start.
Please stay reasonably close to the original song structure unless your band has coordinated changes in advance.
Avoid extended solos or major arrangement changes unless everyone involved is aware beforehand.
Songs should generally stay around 5 minutes or less. If a song is expected to run over the 5-minute mark, please get pre-approval from the producers so we can keep the show on schedule.
If there are key changes, arrangement changes, or other adjustments, make sure they are clearly confirmed by the entire band before going on stage. Messages can sometimes be missed, especially if changes happen last minute, so please ensure everyone involved is aware and ready.
The cues and progressions are the backbone of every song. Everyone must listen carefully and follow them during the performance.
If you are not confident performing a song, please let us know or skip that one until you are comfortable. Preparation helps ensure that everyone on stage performs confidently and that the band sounds tight together.
Please sign up for the role you are prepared to perform.

• Keys – Be prepared to play the primary keyboard parts or coordinate with the other musicians about how to split them
• Drums – Know the tempo and progression, as the drummer drives the song
If you require additional equipment such as wireless microphones, wireless monitors, or special instruments (horns, violin, etc.), please let us know ahead of time so we can coordinate with the sound engineers.
This helps avoid delays during transitions and keeps the show running smoothly.
By participating in POPROCKZ LIVE events, you acknowledge and agree to follow these guidelines so we can maintain a professional, organized, and enjoyable experience for everyone involved.
Failure to follow these guidelines may result in removal from the lineup or ineligibility for future events.
